Ankida Ridge Vineyards
Virginia's Little Burgundy
Ankida Ridge - The Vrooman Family Farm & Vineyard is a family-run, micro-boutique vineyard, farm and winery located in Amherst County at 1800 feet on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The vineyard grows exclusively Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with the first vintage in 2010. The first vintage received international acclaim for an elegant, Burgundian style wine.
The vineayard practices sustainable, environmentally sensitive viticulture on their low-vigor, granite soils. They strive for a true sense of place unique to the region in all the wines.
A second label of wines, "Rockgarden," is produced on site by the winemaker, Nathan Vrooman, from grapes purchased from area vineyards. These hand-crafted wines are also receiving high praise.
Strictly limited in production, their wines are highly sought after and can be enjoyed at select area restaurants (see website) or purchased at the winery, online or at Early Mountain Vineyards, Madison, VA, where they are a partner in the "Best of Virginia" program.
