Virginia Cider Houses
Cidery
We produce handcrafted Hard Cider from apples predominantly grown in the Shenandoah Valley. Each batch we make is dependent upon Mother Nature and not made from apple concentrate. The care we take in the making them is apparent when customers drink the ciders
Fresh, Funky Cider
Our approach to cidermaking is straightforward. Use local Virginia apples, experiment, learn by doing, reading, and engaging with the beer, cider, and winemaking communities. Keep it fresh; keep it funky. Our cidery is based in Free Union, just outside of Charlottesville, we are in the heart of apple country at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Showalter’s Orchard
Old Hill Cider is beginning the fifth year of production at Showalter’s Orchard. The Showalter family has been growing apples for 50 years, and blending and pressing fresh, sweet apple cider for more than 40 years, Old Hill Cider is the Shenandoah Valley’s first hard cidery. Cidermaker, Shannon Showalter, crafts ciders in innovative ways that honor early American Cidermakers.
