What started as a mental seed planted in 2002 to begin grape growing, has blossomed into a home-grown business that has delivered some great wines. We've developed a great relationship with wineries, vineyards and local businesses in the Commonwealth for the advancement of agritourism. Currently, we are transitioning to our new location where we can manage and produce estate wines and offer a little some extra. We are focused on wine and wine education.

Afton Mountain Vineyards is one of Virginia's first farm wineries with our oldest vines dating from the late 1970's. Our focus is on making wines of exceptional quality from our own estate-grown grapes. Our Tasting House is surrounded by vineyards, 360 degree mountain views and sits beside a 13 acre lake. AmRhein is a German name meaning “on the Rhein” (Rhine) River. AmRhein’s Wine Cellars is a Virginia family owned and operated, 100% estate-grown winery, specializing in wines with a German influence. We are located in Southwest Virginia off Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 136. We are the 63rd winery in Virginia. Our vineyards were first planted in 1995 and our first crush occurred in 1999. The winery opened in 2000 with a Viognier.

Some of the oldest vines in Virginia
Established in 1979 in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Autumn Hill Vineyards has some of the oldest Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Virginia.
The 13 arces of only Vinifera grapes: Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Nebbiolo yield wines of special character and finese.

Former Apple Orchard, Now Augusta County's Premier Winery
Barren Ridge Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Owned by John and Shelby Higgs, the property was originally purchased in 1934 by John’s father James Higgs, an apple grower. John grew up here, picking apples and cultivating an appreciation for the land and for the agricultural heritage of this region. Decades later, he returned with his wife Shelby cleared the overgrown apple orchard and planted a vineyard.

Big Fish Cider Co is a microcidery in Monterey, Virginia making ciders using locally grown apples and traditional techniques to create completely new flavors. Our cider is available in a range of off-dry to semi-sweet blends and seasonal offerings. Big Fish has won multiple best in class, gold, silver and bronze awards at the Great Lakes Cider and Perry Competition as well as a Good Food Award.
