Wine Education & Exploration of Pinot Gris at DuCard Vineyards
Pinot Gris? Pinot Grigio? Are they the same grape? What gives? The Burgundy native is popping up on more tasting menus at Virginia vineyards. Let’s start the conversation and understand the differences while sipping old and new world examples.
Pinot Gris is a pink-skinned mutation of Pinot Noir. The adjective Gris is French for "gray", and refers to the dusty, light-gray sheen often found on the grapes. Sometimes used as a blender, Pinot Gris is generally produced as a varietal wine. Flavors and aromas vary greatly from region to region and from style to style, but there are some commonalities. Intrigued? Let’s discuss while sipping.
We will hold two sessions: 12pm and again at 3:00pm. Small bites will accompany the wines, and wines will be available for purchase at the end of each session.
