Desert Rose Ranch & Winery
Unique "old western flair" Winery
Desert Rose Ranch and Winery is the culmination of a lifetime of wine interest. We grew up on a large cattle ranch in the high desert country of Eastern Oregon where homemade wine-making was part of our family tradition. That tradition was continued in our family as we made wine during our various travels around the world. Since retiring from the Federal government and then relocating to the Hume area, we started a successful horse operation that included breeding, boarding and training. We are still located on our operating horse ranch where horses are an integral part of our daily life.
We first grew grapes for family consumption only and then decided to turn that "hobby" into a full-time activity. Our small plot of grapes we were growing for family use slowly morphed into another major life pathway. We are surrounded by some of the finest wineries in Virginia and we are proud to join them in offering our guests high quality wine. One of our sayings at Desert Rose is "shouldn't it just taste like grapes!?" We are a family run farm winery and our dedication is to giving you the best Virginia wine that starts from our roots all the way to your glass.
We invite you to take a step back in time to the Old West in our unique tasting room where you will be served at the horseshoe shaped bar that includes currency from our overseas travel. We are a family friendly winery where picnickers are always welcome inside our tasting room and outside in our seating areas. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where our guests feel at home and comfortable. We love sharing our stories about the wines and enjoy hearing about your connection to wine.
We are one of Fauquier County's more unique and boutique wineries located in Hume, Va. Come by and find out why.
We look forward to seeing you 'round the ranch.
