The newly released Black Bear, is a red wine blend that is a complement to our Shenandoah white wine. Both celebrate the treasure that is our National Park that borders us just out our back lawns.

From our Estate Vineyard, with an intense garnet color and earthy aromas of currant, plums, and fennel, the 2023 Cabernet Franc Vintner Reserve is robust and smooth. Expressions of clove, black cherry, and pink peppercorn with classic chalky tannins offer a welcoming first impression.

Grown at our Whetstone Run vineyard, this Cabernet Franc was selected for its depth in color, welcoming mouth feel, well-defined structure. Pairs with French Onion Soup and hearty seasonal stews.

The bright and beautiful characteristics of pure Cabernet Franc shine in this Bourgueil-style wine. Fermented and aged primarily in stainless steel, this wine exhibits a floral nose, red fruits, and fresh sweet herbs. 

We’re excited to release our next vintage of Norton after being sold out for nearly a year. With notes of plum, violet, and sweet spice, this estate grown Norton has a bright acidity that is lively and fresh on the palate.

This signature Bordeaux style blend has a bright, “fun” and fruity nose, with lots of black cherry. The forward palate is fruity with a bit of leather, giving way to vanilla and a light smokiness on the finish. 33% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot.

A very French style Cabernet Franc

Discover the exquisite DuCard Petit Verdot 2021, a standout Virginia wine that exemplifies the state's winemaking excellence. Produced by DuCard Vineyards, located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, this wine highlights the unique character of the Petit Verdot grape, traditionally used in Bordeaux blends but shining here as a single varietal. The 2021 vintage, despite challenging weather, yielded grapes that produced a wine with deep colors and intense flavors, thanks to sustainable vineyard practices.

First Vintage

Loaded with intense black fruit flavor set off by notes of cedar and spice; great grip and very substantial.

A welcoming nose of dark fruits and herbs is evident in this well-balanced wine. Soft tannins with vanilla notes leave a rich and warm mouthfeel. This wine was aged in French oak for 9 months and has two years of bottle aging.

Aromas suggest spice and earth underpinned by a hint of violet. On the palate, full and rich, laden with berry, clove and black pepper. Good acidity and tannic grip ensure a long-lived wine.
