Our Tasting Room & Taphouse brings a new dimension to Mount Ida Reserve’s time-honored tradition of hospitality. A warm, relaxed, yet refined atmosphere, created with the genuine care and comfort of our guests in mind. We are unique, in that we offer both onsite vineyards and a Brewery situated atop Mount Ida Reserve’s secluded 7,000 acre sanctuary, in the rolling hills of High Ridge.

Located in the western Shenandoah Valley, Bluestone Vineyard offers impressive views of the mountains and surrounding farmland. Enjoy the view of our hillside vineyard from our tasting room as you taste our wines and experience a little of the Valley's atmosphere and friendliness. We currently offer 26 wines including sweets, whites, reds, and reserves and a hard cider. 

We believe there is no better place for a green building where the goal of the entire operation is to transform sunlight into wine. The architectural design of the tasting room, with two complete walls of glass that extend up for two stories makes the visitor experience that of an “indoor/outdoor” space regardless of the weather. 

The winery is nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge, the heart of Virginia Wine Country. Thatch (First Colony) boasts breathtaking sunsets, charming Old World gardens, meticulously manicured vineyards and newly renovated facilities. The warm hospitality and elegant atmosphere will make you feel like kicking back and staying awhile.

Located at the head of the Shenandoah Valley with magnificent views in the heart of Blue Ridge Mountain country. Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewurtztraminer, Cabernet Franc, and Traminette wines are crafted from old growth vines. Enjoy a picnic and walk the mountain trails on the 300-acre farm. Barren Ridge Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Owned by John and Shelby Higgs, the property was originally purchased in 1934 by John’s father James Higgs, an apple grower. John grew up here, picking apples and cultivating an appreciation for the land and for the agricultural heritage of this region. Decades later, he returned with his wife Shelby cleared the overgrown apple orchard and planted a vineyard.

Muse Vineyards, founded in 2005, in the historic and scenic Shenandoah Valley produces estate wines with all grapes grown on site from the highest quality French certified clones. We are producing a bordeaux-style blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, malbec and petit verdot as well as single varietals. We also have chardonnay and red and white Rhone style wines such as viognier, marsanne, roussanne, grenache and syrah. In 2015, we won the Governor's Award for our 2009 Clio. The vineyard site has been continuously farmed since 1792 and the historic house dates from the same year.
