Magnolia Vineyards and Winery

A Taste of Virginia’s Wine Country

Nestled in the rolling hills of Virginia’s picturesque wine country, Magnolia Vineyards & Winery offers a serene retreat for wine lovers. This family-owned winery, located near the charming town of Amissville, prides itself on producing high-quality wines that reflect the region's rich terroir. With its beautiful vineyards, warm hospitality, and dedication to excellence, Magnolia Vineyards invites guests to experience a blend of tradition and passion in every sip.

The Vineyards and Varietals at Magnolia Winery: A Rich Heritage of Grapes

Magnolia Vineyards is spread across 27 acres, with 6 acres dedicated to grapevines, carefully cultivated to reflect the unique characteristics of Virginia’s soil and climate. Established in 2007, the vineyards have steadily grown, with vines reaching optimal maturity. The vineyards boast a diverse collection of grape varieties, including:

Chardonnay and Viognier – the winery’s flagship white varietals.
Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot – robust reds that thrive in Virginia’s warm summers and crisp fall nights.

Each variety benefits from the vineyard’s location in the Shenandoah AVA (American Viticultural Area), where a combination of well-drained soil and a temperate climate creates ideal growing conditions. The meticulous care of the vines, from pruning to harvesting, ensures that only the highest quality grapes are used in Magnolia’s winemaking process.

Meet The Winemaker’s Touch

At the heart of Magnolia Vineyards is Tony McGhee, the dedicated winemaker and co-owner, whose passion for winemaking shines through in every bottle. Tony’s journey into the world of winemaking started as a hobby, but his curiosity and commitment quickly evolved into a professional craft. Today, his reputation as an innovative and meticulous winemaker is well-known in Virginia’s wine community.

Tony believes in minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the grapes to express their full potential. Each wine is carefully crafted, from fermentation to bottling, to create a balance of flavors that showcases the true character of the grape.

Alongside Tony is the vineyard manager, Mary Smith, whose extensive experience in viticulture has been instrumental in cultivating the thriving vineyards. Her hands-on approach to vineyard management, combined with her deep knowledge of the region’s terroir, ensures that the grapes are harvested at the peak of ripeness, resulting in wines of remarkable depth and complexity.
